Restoring Your Driver's License After a DUI Arrest

Restoring Your Driver's License After a DUI Arrest

When an individual has been arrested for DUI in the state of Colorado, the Colorado Department of Revenue's Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will suspend his or her license in an effort to deter the driver from once again getting behind the wheel of a vehicle after he or she has been consuming drugs or alcohol. The driver then has 7 days in which to request a hearing with the DMV. The length of time that an individual's license is suspended will be based on a number of factors including the type of DUI offense, the age of the driver, whether he or she has had any prior DUI arrests or convictions, if there were any injuries or fatalities caused by a DUI-related accident and more.

By obtaining legal representation from an experienced DUI lawyer at our firm you will greatly improve your chances of being able to aggressively represent your interests in court, protect your rights at the hearing and either regain your immediate driving privileges or fulfill the legal obligations necessary to restore your driver's license as soon as possible. Our firm will provide you with the all-encompassing representation you need from the moment of your arrest all the way through to the point where you driver's license is restored. It will first be necessary for you to complete the time required under your original suspension.

Once that is done, we will be able to help you file an Application for Reinstatement form (Form DR2870). You will then be required to pay the state a $95 reinstatement fee, you will need to get an SR22 from your insurance company and file it with the state to show proof that you will maintain insurance for the time frame they require, and you may need to complete an alcohol or drug treatment program should the state consider it necessary. In certain circumstances our firm may be able to help you become eligible for an early reinstatement. If you have been arrested for DUI and you need assistance with getting your driver's license restored, contact the Law Office of Christopher H.
